What is a capital declaration?

A capital declaration reports assets and liabilities at the date specified in the assessing officer's request. It covers relevant private and business positions in Israel and overseas according to the form and request.

Relevant spouse and under-18 children's data are also gathered as instructed. Distinguish account balances, purchase costs and market values; do not enter every asset at today's estimated value.

Why does the Tax Authority request it?

It helps examine income and understand assets. Earlier declarations and evidence may support comparisons and examination of changes in capital. Keep complete, consistent and documented records.

When must it be filed?

It follows an assessing officer's request under Income Tax Ordinance section 135(1). It is not a fixed annual requirement for every business, nor does opening alone create an automatic filing date.

The Tax Authority service page states 120 days from the request or declaration date, whichever is later. Send the request to the firm immediately and check the specific deadline and valid extensions.

Today's balance certificate may not suit an earlier declaration date. Use the date specified in the request and obtain matching certificates.

How do we work together?

  1. Read the request: Identify the effective date, deadline and any earlier declaration.
  2. Gather evidence: Tailor the checklist to assets, debts and family circumstances.
  3. Review and prepare: Review amounts, recording methods and consistency with documents.
  4. Approve and file: Complete approvals and signatures and retain the declaration and filing confirmation within the agreed service.

Your preparation checklist

Capital-declaration documents

Mark prepared documents; leave irrelevant items unchecked. This collects records for the firm and is not the declaration itself.

Effective date: The date in your request — not today or necessarily the latest year-end.

Selections stay only in this browser on this device. Do not enter amounts, account numbers or personal documents here.

Start with the request
Banks, loans and debts
Property, vehicles and possessions
Savings, investments and insurance
Gifts, receipts and businesses

The browser stores selected item identifiers and, for annual returns, the year. These limited details may reveal document topics. Full deletion removes both checklists and all years in this browser, not downloaded files.

What should you tell the firm?

Provide complete information, not just information about the business. Relevant details may also include gifts, inheritances, assets abroad and assets you do not own but for which you hold a power of attorney. The firm will check how each item should be recorded and whether further documents are needed.

Do not assume winnings or other receipts are tax exempt, and do not substitute an estimated value for an asset's cost. Keep supporting evidence and discuss the appropriate reporting method with the firm.

This is general information; the checklist will be adapted to each case.
