The terms sound similar, but they address different questions. Understanding the distinction matters from the outset.

VAT-exempt or VAT-registered: the VAT question

Osek Patur and Osek Murshe concern VAT treatment. Classification depends on factors including the occupation and volume of transactions. Not every professional can register as VAT-exempt.

Baal Esek Zair: the income-tax track

The micro-business track belongs to income tax. Subject to eligibility conditions, both VAT-exempt and VAT-registered businesses may qualify. VAT registration alone therefore does not rule out consideration for this track.

Check suitability before choosing

Review turnover, eligibility conditions, actual expenses and reporting obligations. Examine the whole picture rather than choosing based only on the track's name.

When contacting the firm, mention your current classification, field of activity and expected scale. These details are a starting point for assessing suitability.
