The question we received
“I am trying to issue an invoice and the software requires an allocation number. What should I do and how do I register?”

The firm's answer

Register with the Tax Authority, then connect the software

“Allocation-number requests are part of Israel Invoices. Start by registering for Tax Authority digital services, then return to your invoicing software and connect it according to the provider's instructions.”

Once connected and a request is approved, the software can receive the number. Registering for the personal area alone does not necessarily complete the software connection.

Not every invoice above ₪5,000 is assessed the same way

From 1 June 2026, the threshold is an amount above ₪5,000 excluding VAT; from 1 January to 31 May 2026 it was above ₪10,000 excluding VAT. The allocation number is a condition for input VAT deduction on invoices covered by the model. Check the date, customer type and transaction conditions, not just the total.

Step 1: register for the personal area

  1. Use the official website: Open the Tax Authority personal area and choose digital-service registration if you do not have an account.
  2. Complete identification: Enter the requested details and answer the identification questions. Depending on the route, prepare information such as a credit card, Form 106 or earlier reporting data, as instructed by the authority.
  3. Update contact details: Enter a mobile number and email and complete the on-screen verification and registration steps.
  4. Confirm access: Log in and check that you can use the services. If already registered, you need not create another account.

This describes a sole proprietor. Companies or partnerships may also need corporate registration, a principal authorised user and permissions. Follow the appropriate official route.

Step 2: return to the invoicing software

  1. Contact the provider: Ask to enable the Israel Invoices or Tax Authority connection.
  2. Verify the business: Check the business number and owner's details in the system.
  3. Complete the connection: Follow the provider's authentication and authorisation process. Entering details alone is not always enough; connection methods vary.
  4. Check the invoice: After approval, confirm that the allocation number appears alongside the ordinary invoice number and that details match the request.

Enter passwords and verification codes yourself on the official screen. Do not email or WhatsApp them to support.

Tutorial videos — Tax Authority only

What if the software still receives no number?

Check the connection and permissions with the provider. The authority also offers a dedicated request application. A technical fault and a substantive refusal are different; do not treat a refusal as merely a broken button.
